GET YOUR FREEDOM BACK
Stop with the gimmicks and simply resolve your dog's Separation Anxiety so you can get your life back.
The Happy Home Alone™ program is the most comprehensive online program for people whose dogs are suffering from home-alone distress.
Happy Home Alone™ not only shows you exactly how to help your dog relax when you leave them alone — but how to do it without gimmicks like stuffed food toys, anxiety wraps, or aversive tools and techniques.
Are you starting to feel like a prisoner in your own home?
Let me help you get your freedom back and teach your dog that you're always going to come home for them.
Is your dog destroying your home and furnishings, causing noise complaints with endless barking, and impossible to crate?
If you have been suffering alongside your dog long enough, let's talk.
Separation Anxiety may be a complex beast that tests your patience (and your neighbours'!) and denies you your freedom, but it doesn't have to be that way.
Do you feel like you've tried everything?
Let's play a game. One point for each of the ones that you've tried:
Stuffed food toys
Teaching a down-stay on a mat
Ignoring them before and after absences
Crating your dog
Being "Alpha" or focusing on "leadership training"
High frequency sonic devices
Aversive collars (spray or shock)
Waiting for quiet before you return
Leaving for longer and longer absences
How many points did you rack up?
You've scoured the internet for advice, talked to family, friends, and other dog-lovers. The advice you've been given sounded promising but so far, nothing has worked. You're debating hiring a trainer or behaviourist to come in and help you fix this once and for all.
You need immediate relief and long-term results.
There is help. I promise!
Happy Home-Alone™ is right for you if:
- your dog is showing signs of distress when left alone at home
- if you are getting neighbour complaints about the barking and howling
- if you're tired of repairing the destruction you come home to
- you feel just as much anxiety as your dog does when you leave the house
- you've tried so many of the products on the market geared towards this behaviour challenge but haven't seen a change
- you've hired a trainer and all you've done is work on "obedience" like mat-work or "stay"
- you have tried or are considering trying aversive tools to stop the behaviour in its tracks
- you are desperate to get your freedom and life back once and for all
You're in the right place.
By the end of this program, you will have:
- a deep and clear understanding of your dog and their behaviour
- the ability to read your dog's body language and predict their behaviour much more accurately
- the skills to be able to change how your dog feels about being left alone for longer and longer periods
- impulse control and relaxation skills to help your dog recover from setbacks
- taken a few big steps towards your freedom and peace of mind
- the confidence to keep going with a clear plan in place
How does this work?
This is an six-week guided online group program that provides you with:
- one robust lesson every Sunday morning
- live support from me, Monday to Friday, in our private Facebook group
- a live group coaching session once per week
- Hot Seats - where you can have your video assessed* (Premium Students)
Happy Home Alone™ is a guided online program for dogs of all ages, suffering from home alone distress. The program runs for 6 weeks and is taught through video, worksheets, and daily live support in our discussion group.

Steve & Christa
Harry is doing fantastic and perhaps as happy as we've ever seen him. In July we moved, which was marginally traumatic for him, but he quickly adapted, and is now loving life. He really is back to his old self, and his anxiety issues almost seem like a distant memory. As you know, when those issues were occurring, both of our lives were completely consumed by them, so it is a drastic change to go from that, to it being almost a non-issue.
From time to time I encounter someone in a dog park who is having problems with isolation distress and I make sure to give them your contact info We learned so much going through this process with you and Harry, and we feel like we could rescue another dog in the future, now that we have an idea of how to manage this problem.
Thank you so much for your help in getting us all to this place! You're literally a life-saver - for both us and Harry!

Listen. I've been doing this a long time and one of my super-skills is listening to PEOPLE, not just dogs.
I know what it's like to have a dog with severe isolation distress and feel anxious and embarrassed. I've had the eviction notices, the thousands of dollars in damage to my home, the wallet-draining gimmick-sales pitch, the desperate attempts with punishment-based tools, and the guilt.
I also know what it's like to feel inundated with advice from many different sources and struggle to know what is going to work and what is totally bogus and outdated.
My job is to save you time, hunting and pecking for bits and pieces of information that may or may not work, but also to provide you with science-based information vs. pseudo-science.
What's Inside HAPPY HOME ALONE™
This guided online program includes:
PLUS this bonus to give Premium Students unstoppable momentum in achieving your Home Alone goals:
Impulse Control Course
Most dogs suffer from a lack of impulse control; they are not so different from us! When we suffer from impulse control issues we tend to get stuck in dangerous patterns.
Dogs with separation-related distress need some help in this department so they can tolerate longer absences and recover faster from setbacks.
Let's tackle this one together!
What you need to get started
I'm not going to pretend that this program is for everyone! There are a few things you'll need if you want to achieve your goals with this program.
You don't need to be a tech whiz, but you do need some of the basics.
A camera-enabled computer, tablet, or smartphone
You'll need eyes on your dog and that means a computer with a camera, a tablet, or an extra smartphone that you can leave set up on wifi. If you have a Furbo, Nestcam, Wyzecam or other video/audio recording device, perfect!
Wifi and a data plan on your smartphone
You'll definitely need access to the internet to access the course, but you'll need connectivity on the go as you get closer and closer to your goal of leaving your dog alone. This is how you'll monitor your dog when they're home alone!
An open mind
Separation Anxiety is a complex beast and we have to get creative. This is why you're here! I've worked with hundreds of cases and have seen it all. I've also lived it, so I've had to get creative for myself and my clients. Have an open mind when you come into this program and work with me!

Frequently Asked Questions
Don’t I need in-person training?
No! And here's why... Our specialised program is all done virtually. This allows your Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer to observe your dog during a short absence in the most organic way possible (without sitting in your living room). We can do more, virtually, without doing an in-home visit where we cannot observe your dog during an absence.
So you don't need to see the behaviour in-person?
No. Absolutely not. How would we? Home alone issues happen when dogs are...home alone. This is where technology is our greatest asset.
Modifying this complex behaviour challenge is best done virtually so that your Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer can monitor your dog via live video-feed while you come and go, communicating via text in real time!
So I don't need to pay more to have someone come to my home so that they can see....less?
Your Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer can provide you with a step-by-step plan, coach you through it in real time, and work out any kinks.
No crates, Kongs, distractions, manners-training, "dominance"-related silliness, or pricey gimmicks.
Do I get 1:1 coaching with this program?
Yes and no.
It's a group program and we all learn from each other, which is really beneficial. During our Live Coaching Sessions, I will have Hot Seats. This is where Premium Students have an opportunity to submit video for assessment and review in advance.
In addition, I am available to you from Monday to Friday during the six weeks in our private Facebook group where you can ask questions and get support. Premium Students can submit short video clips for review.
This is a most economical program for these exact reasons!
How long do I have access?
This means that you will have access to the course materials for as long as the course and company are in existence. I've been around since 2008 and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.
The private Facebook group (where all the support and coaching calls live) will be archived at the end of the six weeks but you will still have read-only access to it so you can revisit the calls and posts as often as you'd like.
What is a CSAT?
A CSAT is a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer, hand-picked and trained by Malena DeMartini - the world-renowned Separation Anxiety expert who pioneered this process and has trained hundreds of Trainers around the world.
"[CSATs] are highly accomplished, expert dog trainers in their own right before they began their journey to become Certified Separation Anxiety Trainers. We look for the very best—trainers with extensive experience in behavior modification work, the best education the industry has to offer, highly honed skill sets, and that special touch to provide the support you need to get to the finish line."
Can dogs of any age join the program?
Absolutely. If you have a puppy who is showing signs of distress when left alone, you can join this program and send your dog's age to us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. This allows us to adjust some of the material as it's a little different for puppies and requires some tweaking.
If you have a senior dog, that's just fine too! Same process as for puppies - let us know so that we can make those minor adjustments.
Are you certified/qualified?
You bet I am! I'm glad you asked. The animal training industry is unregulated (terrifying!) and anyone can hang a shingle and call themselves a trainer. In fact, there are even unregulated "certifying bodies" out there, making things even more confusing to the consumer.
I have been certified through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers, I am a Certified Separation Anxiety Trainer, a Family Paws Parent Educator, and a Fear Free Certified Professional.
Click on each of those links to find out more about the organisations and get in touch with them if you have questions!
Note: I have recently discontinued my membership to CCPDT.
What methods do you use?
I wish everyone asked this question! As you know (above) the training industry is unregulated and this means that anyone can be a trainer and do whatever they want to your dog without much more than a wrist-slap for even the most abusive crimes.
For that reason, you need to ask these questions and you should demand transparency.
We use science-based and humane methods. Let me explain:
We do not use/promote/condone the use of aversives and this includes:
- physical violence (hitting, kicking, choking, slapping, poking, jabbing, leash corrections, pinning/Alpha-rolling, biting, pinching, helicoptering, scruffing)
- aversive tools and equipment (prong/pinch collars, choke/check collars, spray collars, shock collars, sonic anti-bark devices, electric mats)
- the use of force or intimidation (staring down, physical moulding into position, yelling/screaming/barking at the dog, throwing items at/near the dog)
We do not subscribe to outdated theories such as The Dominance Theory; you cannot be "Alpha" to your dog since the term "alpha" is synonymous with "breeding pair".
We do not enforce deprivation-training (starving the dog, withholding water or oxygen)
Okay, so what does that leave?
We use humane, family-friendly, safe, non-violent methods of training. If we can train horses, belugas, elephants, hyenas, and bears this way, you can certainly train your dog this way.
The technique that we are focused on in this course is called Systematic Desensitisation. This means that we are using data to guide our steps to help our dogs become comfortable at home alone in a gradual manner.
More than anything, we set the learners (you and your dog) up for success by managing the environment, preventing problems before they occur, and help the dog make the right choice.
Do you offer a guarantee?
Yes and no!
Because we're dealing with two species (human and dog), I cannot guarantee results; no one can guarantee behaviour. That would be unethical and if you get a guarantee like that from a trainer, you should run in the opposite direction.
However, I do offer a guarantee that I will give you my all. For these weeks that we are working together, I will be dedicated to you and your cohort-mates, supporting you along the way and providing humane, science-based information.
Can we work together in person?
One on one coaching for Separation Anxiety can be a costly endeavour as you will need daily support (M-F). I do offer this service occasionally, in four-week packages at a premium price to basically have me in your pocket. I will always suggest that you do this course first so that you're not paying that premium price to get the foundation which can be learned in a group setting much more effectively and efficiently. If you need one-on-one support after this program, get in touch and we'll see what we can do!
I only take on a small number of one-on-one clients at a time, so if my schedule is full, I will refer you to a fellow trusted CSAT who will provide you with the same quality coaching based on the same principles and techniques.
What if I change my mind and want to upgrade?
No problem. If you want to upgrade from Regular Tuition to Premium Tuition for the individual support, shoot us an email at email@example.com and we'll help you out with that. There is no pro-rating for upgrades and upgrades are only available in the first week (7 days) of the program starting.
Still “thinking about it”?
Is what you're currently doing working for you?
If it were, you wouldn't be here looking for a solution.
Stop dishing out your hard-earned money for an hour at a time in private lessons!
This program has it all, PLUS the support you need every day in order to make some real progress.
I have been where you are. I can help you get to where I am.
For years I was working with private clients whose dogs were suffering from separation anxiety and isolation distress, feeling guilty for being unable to give more to my students than the hour for which they had paid. To maintain a training business, I was trading hours for dollars and all the while, knowing that people need more. More time, more support, more everything.
You simply cannot get enough from a couple of private lessons to give you a fighting chance at modifying separation-related distress. It's just too big of a beast and requires far more attention and support.
When we launched our DIY course, a lightbulb went on when my students were getting similar results, but on top of that, they were gaining a level of knowledge that was unparalleled. The skills were easily transferred because the foundation was there.
I'm thrilled that now I can help more people at the same time by offering access to me FIVE DAYS A WEEK! Not only that, but I've created your "village" - a group of people going through the same thing and who truly understand you and your struggles. Something I could never have accomplished before in one-on-one training.
I am so excited to be able to offer this to you, knowing that you'll feel the same. You'll have access to consistent information, almost-daily guidance and support, PLUS the added benefit of a community that doesn't shame you or blame you. Instead they support you because they understand you and are in the very same position.
There's a seat with your name on it.
You've done your research. You've checked me out and I check out. You know you'll be more successful (faster) if you join us and get regular support rather than "going it alone".
It's a small financial commitment for what you're getting out of it and you've got that warm and fuzzy feeling. I feel it too. I know we're going to rock this together.
